The 2016 Seattle Sounders FC season was the club's forty-second season of existence, their eighth in Major League Soccer and their eighth consecutive season in the top flight of American soccer.

The Sounders won their first MLS Cup at the end of the season, after the mid-season replacement of head coach Sigi Schmid with Brian Schmetzer in July.
