Early years

Żurrieq Football Club was founded in 1949 and is the oldest sport organisation in the locality of Żurrieq.

Domestic Competition

Żurrieq F.C. participates in all competitions organized by the MFA and the YFA including the National, Under 19 and the Youth FA leagues. Żurrieq F.C. Youth Nursery is the institution which forms part of Żurrieq F.C. and which works to train the young footballers from the age of 8 years up to 16 years and enable them to participate in th competitions organized by the Maltese Youth FA.

European Debut

In 1982, Żurrieq F.C. took part in the first round of the 1982-83 UEFA Cup. Their debut was vs HNK Hajduk Split, losing 1–4 and 0–4. Three years later they played the first round in the 1985–86 European Cup Winners' Cup vs FC Bayer Uerdingen 05, losing 0–3 and 0–9. The next year they played in the first round of the 1986–87 European Cup Winners' Cup vs Wrexham F.C., losing 0–3 and 0–4.
