Çanakçı tombs are at about 36°31′24″N 34°10′27″E / 36.52333°N 34.17417°E a few hundred meters west of Kanlıdivane sink hole. The general altitude of the area is around 225 metres (738 ft).They are sculpted on rocks on the southern side of a road running parallel to
The tombs
The tombs were carved in around 2nd century AD, during Roman Empire period. Each tomb has a rectangular opening. On some of the openings there are inscriptions which condemn potential tomb thieves .[1] Also on some tombs human figures are carved, unquestionably belonging to the bodies in the tombs. In two niches there are 3 human figures in each and in one niche there is one human figure.
