Etymology

From Mongolian ᠪᠠᠭᠰᠢ (baɣsi, master, trainer, teacher) or Manchu ᠪᠠᡴᠰᡳ (baksi, scholar), in turn from Chinese 博士 (MC pwɑk̚ d͡ʒɨX, “master”).
