⟨yo2su ka⟩ → */jəsuka//josuɡa/

Shift from Old Japanese yosuka, itself a compound of 寄す (yosu, to bring near, to draw close) + (ka, place).[1][2] The second element became a dakuon in Early Middle Japanese.
