สัปดาห์

Thai

Etymology

From Sanskrit सप्ताह (saptāha, week; sacrificial period lasting seven days, literally seven days), from सप्त (sapta, seven) + अह (aha, day), equivalent to สัปด + อห์.

Cognate with Old Khmer saptāha (week; period of seven days); Modern Khmer សប្តាហៈ (sapptaʾ).

Compare Pali sattāha (hebdomad; week), from which Thai สัตตาหะ and Khmer សត្តាហៈ (sɑɑttaahaʾ) were derived.
