From Old Marathi राहणे (rāhaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀭𑀳𑀇 (rahaï), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ráźʰati. Cognate to Konkani राव्चे (rāvce), Gujarati રહેવું (rahevũ), Hindi रहना (rahnā), Nepali रहनु (rahanu), Assamese ৰোৱা (rüa).
