Etymology

From طَابَق (ṭābaq), ultimately from Middle Persian tʾp̄k' (tābag, [big brick used as] frying-pan) (or another Middle Iranian language). For the sense development compare Mingrelian ანგურა (angura, big brick used for baking bread), from Georgian აგური (aguri, brick).
