From Proto-Indo-European *h₁m(e)-ǵ(ʰ)i. Compare Hittite [script needed] (ammuk), Latin mihī, Gothic 𐌼𐌹𐌺 (mik), Ancient Greek ἐμέγε (emége). The same particle is found in քեզ (kʿez).
