Etymology

From Old Armenian գամ (gam). The imperative արի՛ (arí) is from Old Armenian արի՛ (arí, rise!), the imperative of յառնեմ (yaṙnem, to rise up, to get up), originally in the phrase արի՛ եկ (arí ek, rise and come!).
