Etymology

From Ancient Greek συγκροτέω, συγκροτῶ (sunkrotéō, sunkrotô). Morphologically, συγ- (together) + κροτώ (make rattling strong sound). The association of sound, from the ancient ironmaker (striking two things together). Also ancient is the figurative meaning of "creation, formation".[1]
