From Proto-Turkic *čiāk (time).[1]. Cognate with Turkish çağ, Turkmen çag, Crimean Tatar çağ (era), Tatar чак (çaq), Uzbek chogʻ, Uyghur چاغ (chagh, era), Chuvash чух (čuh), Yakut сах (sax).
