số

Vietnamese

Etymology

Sino-Vietnamese word from (“number, several, count, fate”). Perhaps also a clipping of chữ số (digit) and a semantic loan from English digital (see also kĩ thuật số (digital, literally based on "digit/number-based" technology). Compare French numérique (numerical; digital).
