From Proto-Turkic *kïl- (to do, to make) [1]. Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰴‬𐰃‬𐰞‬ (kïl-, to do)[2], Turkish kılmak (to do), Uzbek qilmoq (to do), Chuvash ӗҫ-хӗл (ĕś-hĕl, work, business, matters, concerns).
