From Proto-Finno-Ugric *muja-. Cognate to Finnish muistaa, Veps muštta, Erzya муемс (mujems, to find), Eastern Mari муаш (muaš, to find, to get, to understand, to decide), Khanty [script needed] (mŭjǝptǝ-, to let sb guess sth), and possibly Komi-Zyrian мойд (mojd, fairytale) and Hungarian mutat (to show).
