From Ottoman Turkish بولمق (bulmak, to find, discover, invent, reach), from Proto-Turkic *bul-mak (to find).[1]

Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰉𐰆𐰞 (bul-, to find, acquire), Karakhanid بـۥـلْماقْ (bulmāq, to find), Yakut бул (bul, to find, locate, get).
