Protopterus aethiopicus aethiopicus is een ondersoort van de kwastvinnige vissen uit de familie van de Afrikaanse longvissen (Protopteridae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de ondersoort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1851 door Heckel.
