De 24ste Europacup I hockey voor mannen werd gehouden van 16 tot en met 19 mei 1997 in Amsterdam. Het deelnemersveld bestond uit 8 teams. HGC uit Wassenaar won deze editie door in de finale het Duitse Harvestehuder THC te verslaan.
