Carl Weathers

Carl Weathers (New Orleans (Louisiana), 14 januari 1948) is een Amerikaans acteur en voormalig American Football-speler. Carl Weathers speelde tot 1974 American Football voor de Oakland Raiders, alvorens zich volledig op zijn filmcarrière te storten. Hij begon zijn carrière dan ook met gastrollen in televisieseries als Good Times, Kung Fu, McCloud en Starsky and Hutch.

Weathers verwierf bekendheid met zijn rol van Apollo Creed in Rocky (1976), een rol die hij eveneens vertolkte in de vervolgfilms Rocky II (1979), III (1982) en IV (1985). Eind jaren zeventig maakte hij ook zijn opwachting in films als Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Semi-Tough (1977) en Force 10 from Navarone (1978).

Verder had hij rollen in onder meer de films Predator (1987, naast Arnold Schwarzenegger) en Action Jackson (1988), en speelde hij in bekende televisieseries. Zo had hij een terugkerende rol in Tour of Duty (in 1989–1990), een hoofdrol in Street Justice als Adam Beaudreaux (1991–1993), en een terugkerende rol in In the Heat of the Night (in 1993–1995). Naast acteren houdt Weathers zich sinds begin jaren negentig bezig met het regisseren van films en televisieseries.
