Abeokuta
Abeokuta (Yoruba voor toevlucht tussen de rotsen) is een stad in de staat Ogun in het zuidwesten van Nigeria. De stad zelf had in 2002 ongeveer 230.000 inwoners, en de agglomeratie bijna 600.000 inwoners. De stad werd rond 1825 gesticht door de stam Egba als verdedigingsplaats tegen overvallen van slavenhandelaren uit Dahomey.
