In Nederland werd de reeks in eerste instantie vanaf 12 maart 2012 op de buis gebracht door Net5. Na zeven afleveringen stopte de zender echter met de serie. Vanaf 18 oktober 2012 zond Veronica 2 Broke Girls weer van voren af aan uit.

Verhaal

De serie speelt zich af in de borough Brooklyn en gaat over Max Black, een cynische serveerster, en haar nieuwe collega Caroline Channing, een rijkeluisdochter die aan lager wal raakt nadat haar vader werd gearresteerd voor fraude. Wanneer Max erachter komt dat haar vriend vreemdgaat, schopt ze hem het huis uit, waarna ze de dakloze Caroline, en haar paard Chestnut, bij haar laat intrekken. Caroline overtuigt Max ervan dat ze samen geld kunnen verdienen aan Max' zelfgemaakte cupcakes die gretig aftrek vinden in het eethuis. Om een zaak op te bouwen zullen ze door hard werken 250.000 dollar bij elkaar moeten zien te sparen. Aan het eind van elke aflevering verschijnt het reeds gespaarde bedrag, waarbij het nieuw verdiende geld wordt opgeteld (of waarvan het verloren geld wordt afgetrokken).
