In April 2013, Grande made her chart debut with "The Way",[1] which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart in the United States.[2] Her debut studio album, Yours Truly, reached the top ten in many countries while debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 albums chart,[3] and was subsequently certified Platinum in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[4] The album spawned two more singles in 2013: "Baby I" and "Right There", the former peaked at number six in Japan.[5] In December 2013, Grande released her first extended play, Christmas Kisses, featuring four Christmas-themed tracks.[6] The EP was re-released in December 2014, exclusive to Japan, with one bonus track, Grande's Christmas single "Santa Tell Me".[7]

Grande released her second studio album, My Everything, in August 2014. The material became her second consecutive number-one record on the Billboard 200.[8] Its lead single, "Problem", was an international hit and reached the top 10 of most major music charts worldwide,[9] including number two in the United States[2] and number one in the United Kingdom.[10] The subsequent two singles, "Break Free" and "Bang Bang", also achieved international success and, as "Problem", both reached the top five in the United States.[2] All three singles managed to chart within the Billboard Hot 100's top 10 simultaneously, making Grande the second lead female artist to achieve the feat.[11] The latter single also went to number one in the United Kingdom. The fourth and fifth singles from the album, "Love Me Harder" and "One Last Time", respectively peaked at number seven and number 13 in the United States,[12] also making her the only artist to score four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014.[13] All the singles from My Everything have been certified Platinum or more by the RIAA, while the album was certified 2x Platinum.[4] In June 2015, Grande released her first remix album, titled The Remix, exclusively to Japan, and consisted of tracks from her first two studio albums.[14]

Grande's third studio album Dangerous Woman was released in May 2016. The record peaked at number two in the United States while topping the charts in the United Kingdom and 12 other countries.[15] Its eponymous lead single debuted at number 10 and peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100,[2] making her the first and only artist in the chart's history to debut in the top 10 with the lead single from each of her first three albums.[16] Her next two singles, "Into You" and "Side to Side", also achieved commercial success, with both singles entering the top 20 in the United States and the United Kingdom.[17] In February 2017, Grande and John Legend covered "Beauty and the Beast" for the 2017 live-action adaption of the same name. The theme song peaked at number 10 in Japan,[5] and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).[18] "No Tears Left to Cry", the lead single from her fourth studio album Sweetener,[19] reached number one in Australia and Norway. The fifth studio album Thank U, Next was released in February 2019. The lead single of the same name debuted at number one simultaneously in the US and UK. The next two singles, "7 Rings" and "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" debuted at number one and number two respectively, in the United States and topped the charts in the United Kingdom.

  17. "Brand New You" was originally recorded in 2008 when Grande made her acting debut in the Broadway musical show 13.[94] The two-track digital single (with "A Little More Homework" as the B-side) was released on November 10, 2014 by Ghostlight Records.[95] These two songs were also on the 13 (Original Broadway Cast Recording) album, which was released on September 30, 2008.[96]
  18. "One Last Time" was also released as a duet with French singer Kendji Girac, winner of the third season of the TV singing competition The Voice: la plus belle voix in France. This version, subtitled "Attends-Moi" ("Wait for Me") was released as a single in Belgium, France and Switzerland on February 16, 2015.[105][106][107] It was included on the deluxe version of Girac's debut studio album Kendji (2015).[108]
  19. "Focus" was originally intended to be the lead single from Grande's third studio album, Dangerous Woman (2016), but was cut from the standard edition track listing, only being included on the Japanese edition of the album.[109]
  20. "Jason's Song (Gave It Away)" is the last track from the Target exclusive edition of Dangerous Woman.[121] It is named for Jason Robert Brown, an American musical theatre composer and playwright.
