Unnao Junction railway station

Unnao Junction railway station is on the Lucknow-Kanpur Suburban Railway and Varanasi-Kanpur branch line. It is located in Unnao district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves Unnao and the surrounding areas. It is a major junction point for Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Allahabad, Unchahar, Balamau, Sitapur from Kanpur Central side to Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Allahabad side. It is well connected to all major railway stations of India such as New Delhi, Old Delhi Junction, Anand Vihar Terminal, Kanpur Central, Lucknow LKO & Lucknow LJN, Allahabad, Mumbai Central, LTT, Bandra Terminus, Pune Junction, Chennai Central, Bhopal Juntion, Jaipur Junction, Howrah Junction, Sealdah, Gorakhpur Junction, Jammu Tavi, Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Gaya Junction, Hyderabad, Secundrabad Junction,Benguluru City, Guwahati Junction etc. It is main railway station in Unnao District and serves Unnao city and surrounding areas. It is famous for its Samosas. Kanpur Central and Unnao Junction are two major railway station within 20 km of different cities.

History

In 1867, the Indian Branch Railway Company opened the Kanpur-Lucknow line.[1]

The Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway opened the line from Varanasi to Lucknow in 1872.[2]

Electrification

The Kanpur-Kanpur Bridge-Unnao-Lucknow section was electrified in 1999–2000.[3]
