The Protector (Turkish TV series)
The Protector (Turkish: Hakan: Muhafız) is a Turkish drama fantasy series starring Çağatay Ulusoy and Ayça Ayşin Turan.[1][2] It was created by Binnur Karaevli and directed by Can Evrenol, Umut Aral and Gönenç Uyanık.[3] The first season consists of 10 episodes and became available for streaming on Netflix on December 14, 2018.[4] The second season consists of 8 episodes and was made available for live streaming on April 26, 2019. On June 10, 2019 the series was renewed for seasons 3 and 4.[5] Season 4 is set to release on Netflix globally on July 9, 2020 and will be the final season.[6]

Plot
After his adoptive father Neşet is killed, Hakan Demir, an Istanbul shopkeeper, discovers he's connected to an ancient secret order whose duty is to protect the city. Hakan must embrace his family's legacy as The Protector, a hero with the duty to kill the Immortal and prevent the destruction of the city.[3][1]
He is helped by Kemal and his daughter Zeynep, members of the secret order of the Loyal Ones.[7]

- Çağatay Ulusoy as Hakan Demir, a handsome man in his 20s who works for his adoptive father Neset in their small antique shop but dreams of opening a bigger store downtown. After Neset is killed for people looking for a mysterious Ottoman shirt, Zeynep and Kemal tell him to put the shirt on. As the shirt fuses with his body, he becomes The Protector. (season 1-3)
- Hazar Ergüçlü as Zeynep, one of the Loyal Ones, who doesn't think so highly of Hakan at first. She trains him in combat. Later becomes Hakan's love interest. (season 1-3)[7]
- Okan Yalabık as Faysal Erdem, a successful businessman and the man whose career inspires Hakan, the series' antagonist. (season 1-3)
- Ayça Ayşin Turan as Leyla Sancak, Erdem's assistant [1] and Hakan's love interest. (season 1-2)[7]
- Mehmet Kurtuluş as Mazhar Dragusha, Erdem's henchman (season 1)[1]

Production
The principal photography began on March 7, 2018 in Istanbul.[8] The series was renewed for a second season.[3] It premiered on April 26, 2019.[9]
