Spring Valley (town), Wisconsin

Spring Valley is a town in Rock County, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 813 at the 2000 census. The only incorporated municipality in the town is the Village of Orfordville.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.1 square miles (90.9 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

At the 2000 census there were 813 people in 282 households, including 227 families, in the town. The population density was 23.2 people per square mile (8.9/km²). There were 291 housing units at an average density of 8.3 per square mile (3.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.52% White, 0.12% Asian, 0.62% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.86%.[1]

Of the 282 households 37.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.9% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% were non-families. 16.7% of households were one person and 7.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.22.

The age distribution was 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% 65 or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 105.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.6 males.

The median household income was $54,375 and the median family income was $57,031. Males had a median income of $45,000 versus $23,000 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,098. About 2.6% of families and 4.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 4.3% of those age 65 or over.
