Sathupalli

Sathupally is located at 17.21°N 80.82°E / 17.21; 80.82 on the Global Positioning System.

As of 2011 census of India, Sathupalli Nagar panchayat had a population of 31,857 of which 15,776 were male and 16,081 female with a sex ratio of 1019 against state average of 993. Child population (0-6 years) stands 3145 which is 9.87 % of total population with a sex ratio of 1033 compared to 933 of state. Literacy rate stands at 82.37.[5]

The present member of legislative assembly is the Telugu Desam Party. Other political parties include the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the CPI, and the CPI(M). The Telangana Christian Party (TCP), Hindu Praja Shakti Party (HPSP) and Jana Sena Party head offices are located in Sathupally.

• Dr. B.Pardha Saradhi Reddy

Dr. B.Pardha Saradhi Reddy is a noted Industrialist in India heading one of the most prosperous industries, Hetero Drugs. He hails from Kandukur, a village located near Sathupalli.

Dr. BPS Reddy is a visionary scientist with vast leadership experience in Research and Development, manufacturing and marketing with leading pharmaceutical companies. His scientific expertise paved the way for research breakthroughs while his business acumen enabled Hetero to become a global player with strong capabilities in manufacturing and marketing.

He established an engineering college, Sai Spurthi Institute of Technology. It was his dream to import technical education to the neighborhood of his ancestral village that has seen the emergence of this college in Sathupalli.

The motive of establishing the college here is to impart quality technical education to the rural people and to uplift the economically backward students talent to greater levels. [6]

• Rohini Sindhuri

The Indian civil servant Rohini Sindhuri belongs to Sathupalli. She is a Karnataka cadre Indian Administrative Service Officer, from the 2009 batch. Rohini Sindhuri in the UPSC examination secured 43rd rank. In her career she has served as an IAS officer in different departments. [7]

• Jalagam Vengala Rao

Jalagam Vengala Rao was a member of the Indian National Congress and was chief minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, now split into two states: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. From 10 December 1973 to 6 March 1978 he served as chief minister.

Rao was elected on four occasions to the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh, where he represented the Sathupalli constituency of Khammam district.

• Thummala Nageswara Rao

Thummala Nageswara Rao is a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) politician who has been a minister in Andhra Pradesh 's government at different times, and later in Telangana 's government. He is from the Sathupalli area.

Rao was elected on three occasions to the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh as a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate from Sathupalli constituency, in 1985, 1994 and 1999.

As a TDP MLA in the Andhra Pradesh legislature, Rao was minister of minor irrigation in the cabinet led by N. T. Rama Rao and held the ministerial portfolios of Prohibition and Excise, Major Irrigation, and Roads and Buildings at various times during the successive Chandrababu Naidu-led government.

Rao became a minister in the TRS cabinet in December 2014, shortly after he left the TDP for the TRS. He took the Roads and Buildings portfolios, and women and children 's development

• Hanu Raghavapudi

The director and screenwriter Hanu Raghavapudi is born in Sathupalli. He is known for Andala Rakshasi, Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, Lie (film) and Padi Padi Leche Manasu, Telugu-language films.

• Singareni Collieries Company

Jalagam Vengalarao (JVR) Opencast coal mine is situated in the Godavari Valley coal belt of Sathupalli- Chintalapudi, West Godavari district. The 10 MTPA coal mine stretches over an area of 1956,89 ha. It is located in Ayyagaripeta & Komapalli villages, Mandal Sathupalli, Khammam district, Telangana state , India.

JVR coal mines consist of two adjacent mines JVR OC-I and JVR OC-II. JVR OC-I started production as a Sathupalli opencast mine at a capacity of 0.7 MTPA in 2005 and was granted environmental clearance on 16 September 2004. On 27 July 2007, Sathupalli coal mine obtained additional environmental clearance for a 2.5 MTPA rise in output and was renamed JVR OC-I.The JVR OC-I expansion project of capacity of 5.0 MTPA was started on 23rd February, 2015 and coal production was started on 31st March, 2015.

On 28 March 2010, JVR OC-II received its environmental clearance for a maximum capacity of 5 MTPA over a lease area of 1409.81 ha.

JVR Opencast Project-II, The proposed project is designed for an annual rated capacity of 10 MTPA on a 1910.09 ha area. The project's balance of extractable reserves is 245,51 Mt, with a projected life of 28 years. It is also intended to set up a 4 MTPA coal washer in 13.03 ha of land within the project area in order to wash the coal having an average G12 grade to acquire G9 grade coal.
