The el-Born is based on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform and will be manufactured at the Zwickau plant in Germany alongside the Volkswagen ID.3 which shares the same platform. The el-Born is named after a neighbourhood in Barcelona.[1]

The el-Born is fitted with a 62kWh battery pack with a claimed 420 km (261.0 mi) range (WLTP). The car is powered by a 204 PS (150 kW; 201 bhp) electric motor, able to accelerate to 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds.[2] The battery is compatible with 100kW DC supercharging and features a thermal management system.

It will be fitted with driver assistance systems capable of Level 2 autonomy for the control of steering, acceleration and deceleration.[3]
