History

Realme was officially established on May 4, 2018 by Sky Li.

On July 30, 2018, Sky Li announced his intention to establish realme as an independent brand on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo. In November 2018, realme introduced a new logo.[6]

On May 15, 2019, realme held its first conference in Beijing, China to officially enter the Chinese market, launching realme X, realme X Lite and realme X Master Edition.[7][8]

On June 2019, realme officially announced its entry in the European market[9] and posted its first photo shot by its 64MP camera.[10]

By July 2019, realme has successfully entered 20 markets including China, India, South East Asia and Europe.[11]

According to a report by the international authoritative analysis institution Counterpoint, realme's global shipment registered 4.7 million units worldwide in Q2 2019, an increase of 848% year-on-year, and became one of the top 10 mobile phone manufacturers in the world.[11]

By August 2019, realme has passed 10 million users around the world.[11]

In August 2019, realme showed a prototype device with a 64MP quad-camera both in China and India.[12][13]

Market

On its 1st anniversary, realme announced it was going be entering the Mainland China and Taiwan market[14][15] and sold about 15 million handsets in its first year of operation.[16]

Realme launched its first product, "realme 1," exclusively to the Indian market in May 2018 on Amazon India. By July 2019 realme had launched in more than 20 markets, including China, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, and Russia.[17] Realme launched in the Australian market in October 2019.[18] As of November 2019, Realme already had a 14.3% share in the Indian smartphone market.[19][20]

Products

Realme 1

Realme's first smartphone product, realme 1, launched in India in May 2018. This model has an 18:9 display with 6.0-inch FHD+ resolution and is equipped with a MTK Helio P60 chipset, a 13MP single rear camera with single tone LED flash, an 8MP front camera without LED Flash, and a non-removable 3410 mAh battery.[21] It was initially available in three storage configurations: 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, and a version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage and sold more than 400,000 units in the first 30 days on Amazon India exclusively.[22]

Realme 2

Realme 2 was unveiled on September 4, 2018. It comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Based on ColorOS 5.1, current version of ColorOS is 6.0 and inspired by Android 9 Pie, the phone is powered by a 4230 mAh battery and runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. It features a diamond-cut back glass design, which retains the phone's all-glass body and also comes with three unlock modes: Smart Lock, Face Unlock, and a fingerprint sensor on the back.[23] The Realme 2 has a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera and 8MP front camera. It sold 200,000 units in 5 minutes on Flipkart exclusively.[23]

Realme 2 Pro

The realme 2 Pro smartphone was launched in September 2018. It comes with a 6.30-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels at a density of 409 pixels per inch and was the first realme product to be sold outside of India, with a launch on October 9 in Indonesia.[24] No details for release in the Philippines have been announced.

The Realme 2 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 1.95 GHz(under clock) octa-core processor with the Adreno 512 GPU and also comes with 8 GB of RAM and features 128 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The Realme 2 Pro has a 16MP (f/1.7) + 2MP (f/2.4) dual rear camera, and a 16MP(f/2.0) front camera. Note::(It comes With UFS 2.1 Storage in 8/128 GB variant) It is powered by a 3500 mAh non-removable battery, measures 156.70 x 74.00 x 8.50 millimeters (height x width x thickness) and weighs 174 grams. It runs on ColorOS 5.2, based on Android 8.1 (Oreo), Currently runs on ColorOS 6, based on Android 9.0 (Pie) and will soon receive RealmeUI, based on Android 10 on June 2020.

The realme 2 Pro is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone and also accepts Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, Micro-USB, Active 4G on both SIM cards, and 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include face unlock, a fingerprint sensor, a compass/magnetometer, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor and a gyroscope.[25]

Realme C1

Realme launched realme C1 after launching realme 2 Pro. The realme C1, powered by the Snapdragon 450 1.8 GHz octa-core processor. The realme C1 has a 6.2-inch HD+ 1520 X 720 pixel (19:9 aspect ratio) display with a screen-to-body ratio of 88.8 percent.

The C1 has a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera, and a 5MP (f/2.2) front camera. It has a 4230 mAh battery, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage. The realme C1 runs on ColorOS 5.1.[26]

On January 28, 2019, realme also introduced two new variants of realme C1 by calling them realme C1 (2019). These two variants are actually realme C1 with 2 GB RAM / 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage. There are no changes in design or other specifications.[27] While on November 29, 2018 the Realme C1 single variant with the 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage was officially launched in the Philippines and its flash sale started on December 25, 2018.[28]

Realme C2

Realme launched the realme C2 it brings a 12 nm Helio P22 chipset, and has a 6.1” display with HD resolution and a waterdrop notch. The chip is coupled with 2/16 GB and 3/32 GB memory combinations, and runs ColorOS 6.0, based on Android Pie. It has Chroma Boost and some basic slow-mo (80 fps at 480p). The phone will be offered in Diamond Blue and Diamond Black colors. It will arrive on Flipkart on 2019 May 15.[29]

On May 31, 2019 the realme C2 was officially launched in the Philippines. It has 6.1-inch dewdrop display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, which contains a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The realme C2 was released in two variant: 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of storage.[30]

Realme U1

The realme U1 was launched on 28 November 2018 as an Amazon India exclusive.[31] It has a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with dewdrop notch. The phone packs MediaTek Helio P70 (12 nm) SoC with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 It has two storage configurations: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB of storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. The phone comes with a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera and 25MP front camera with Sony Sensor. Realme U1 has 3500 mAh battery and runs on ColorOS 5.2, based on Android 8.1 (Oreo).[32][33]

Realme 3

The realme 3 was launched on 4 March 2019 as a Flipkart India exclusive. It has a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC along with ARM Mali-G72 MP4 GPU. It has two storage configurations: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB of storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. The device comes with a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera and 13MP front camera. The realme 3 packs a 4230 mAh battery and runs on ColorOS 6.0, based on Android 9.0 (Pie). Its position in India is 3 Under 6 months.[34]

On March 19, 2019 the realme 3 was launched in the Philippines as a Shopee Philippines exclusive for the 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage. It has also a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch. The phone is powered by the Mediatek Helio P70 SoC along with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It has two storage configurations available for offline stores and or realme's kiosk nationwide: 3 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. The device comes also with 13MP front camera. The realme 3 also packs a 4,230mAh battery and runs on ColorOS 6.0, based on Android 9.0 (Pie).[35]

Realme 3 Pro

The realme 3 Pro (realme X Lite in China) was launched on 22 April 2019.

On May 17, 2019 the realme 3 Pro was officially launched in the Philippines, it has three variants: 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage,6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 AIE chipset along with Adreno 616 GPU.[36]

The realme 3 Pro boasts a bezel-less 6.3-inch(16 cm) full-HD+ IPS display with teardrop notch at the top, resulting in an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and screen to body ratio of 90.8%. The realme 3 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SOC, 4 GB RAM/6 GB RAM, and 64 GB/128 GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 256 GB via microSD. It is the first phone in its price range to use a Snapdragon 710 chipset.

The Realme 3 Pro is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has a polycarbonate body on the back, with three color variants - Lightning Purple, Nitro Blue, Carbon Grey. It has a weight of 172g.

Realme 3 Pro is updated to Android 10 with new RealmeUI custom skin

The realme 3 Pro has a 16MP+5MP dual-camera setup on the rear, offering features such as bokeh mode and more. The primary sensor is a Sony IMX519, which is used in a lot of high-end smartphones such as the OnePlus 6/6T. The phone also has a 25MP front-facing camera. The front camera also supports AI Face Unlock feature.

The realme 3 Pro is powered by a 4,045mAh battery paired with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. The company bundles a compatible 20W VOOC 3.0 charger inside the realme 3 Pro's box.[37]

Realme X

On May 15, 2019, the realme X was officially launched in China and launched in India on 14 July.[38]

The realme X arrived with a notch-less full HD+ SUPER AMOLED display of 6.53 inches with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that embedded with an in-display fingerprint reader, it runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 along with Adreno 616 GPU to fuel the smartphone.

The realme X released in China in three variant: 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. And in India its launched with 4 GB/8 GB of RAM with 128 GB storage.

The back panel of the phone has 48MP Sony IMX 586 Sensor plus 5MP dual camera setup and 16MP Sony IMX 412 Sensor pop-up front-facing camera.[39]

A battery with capacity of 3,765mAh battery may fuel the realme X. The handset supports VOOC 3.0 flash charging technology. With type C port.[40]

Realme X Master Edition

On May 15, 2019, the realme X Master Edition was officially launched in China, it was design by famous designer Naoto Fukasawa.[38]

The realme X Master Edition arrived with a notch-less full HD+ sAMOLED display of 6.53 inches with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that embedded with an in-display fingerprint reader, it runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 along with Adreno 616 GPU to fuel the smartphone. However, some contradictory reports have claimed that it could be featuring the Snapdragon 855 chipset.

The realme X Master Edition released in China in three variant: 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage.

On July 23, 2019 the realme 3i was officially launched in India, it has two variant: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. It runs on MediaTek Helio P60 AIE chipset along with ARM Mali G-72 GPU . The phone is loaded with colorOS 6.0 based on Android Pie 9.0.

The realme 3i boasts a bezel-less 6.22-inch HD+ IPS display with teardrop notch and a 15.8 cm viewable display. The realme 3i is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 clocked at 2.0 GHz, there are two variant available: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage.

The realme 3i has a 13MP+2MP dual-rear camera setup, offering features such as bokeh mode. The primary sensor is a 1.12 micrometer with supporting sensor of 1.75 micrometer CMOS. The phone also has a 13MP front-facing camera which supports AI face unlock feature.

The realme 3i is powered by a 4,230mAh battery with no support to fast charging. It comes with Micro USB as port option. The company bundles a regular 10W charger.[41]

Realme 5

The realme 5 was launched on 20 August 2019. They also launched some of their accessories into the market .

On August 20, 2019 the realme 5 was officially launched in India, it has three variant: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage, 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. It runs on Snapdragon 665 AIE processor along with Octa-core CPU . The phone is loaded with colorOS 6.0 realme edition based on Android Pie 9.0

The realme 5 boasts 6.5-inch mini-drop fullscreen LCD multi-Touch display with 89% screen-to-body ratio. The realme 5 equipped Corning Gorilla Glass.[42]

The realme 5 has AI Quad Camera with Ultra Wide-angle Macro Lens, 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP wide-angle camera with 119°±1.5° angle and f/2.25 aperture, coming up with 2MP portrait camera and 2MP macro camera. Supporting 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps and 120fps/240fps slow motion.[42]

The realme 5 is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with no support to fast charging. The company bundles a regular 10W charger (5V, 2A inbox).[42]

Realme 5 Pro

The realme 5 Pro was launched on 20 August 2019.

On August 20, 2019 the realme 5 Pro was officially launched in India, it has three variants: 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM with 64 GB stroage and 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 AIE processor which is an Octa-core CPU . The phone is loaded with colorOS 6.1 realme edition based on Android Pie 9.0[43]

The realme 5 Pro boasts 6.3-inch dew-drop fullscreen LCD multi-Touch display with 90.6% screen-to-body ratio with 2340-by-1080-pixel resolution at 409 ppi.[43]

The realme 5 Pro has AI Quad Camera with Ultra Wide-angle Macro Lens, Sony IMX 586 48MP main camera with f/1.79 aperture, 8MP wide-angle camera with 119°±1.5° angle and f/2.25 aperture, coming up with 2MP portrait camera and 2MP macro camera. Supporting 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps/60fps.[43]

The realme 5 Pro is powered by a 4,035 mAh battery with VOOC fast charging (5V, 4A inbox). It supports USB 2.0 fast charging with VOOC 3.0.

The realme XT was launched on 16 September 2019.

It has 3 variants: 4 GB RAM+64 GB ROM, 6 GB RAM+64 GB ROM, 8 GB RAM+128 GB ROM. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 AIE which is an octa core CPU built on 10 nm process. The phone is loaded with Android 9.0 Pie.

The Realme XT has a Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution of 2340x1080p which is a 6.4 inch video recording at 30fps, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps/60fps.[43]

The Realme XT has a 4,000 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 flash charging(5V, 4A in box).

Realme X2 Pro

The Realme X2 Pro smartphone was launched on 20 November 2019.

The phone supports the SuperVOOC 50 watt fast charging standard , but also used in their daughter and sister company devices. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and available in three variants: 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage; 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage; and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage.[44]

The phone measures 161.00 × 75.7 × 8.7mm (6.34 in × 2.98 in × 0.34 in) and weighs 192 grams (7.02 oz). It also features a 6.5-inch 2400 × 1080 pixel Super AMOLED display that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone display also has a waterdrop-shaped notch at the top of the display, where the 16 MP front-facing camera is located, and a 90 Hz refresh rate.

On the rear, there are 4 cameras: a 64 MP primary shooter with Samsung's GW1 sensor; a 13 MP telephoto lens, providing 2x optical zoom and supporting up to 20x hybrid zoom; an 8 MP 115 degree wide angle camera; and a 2 MP back and white camera for depth sensing in portrait mode.

Realme 5s

The Realme 5s was launched on 29 November 2019 in India.

The Realme 5s shares same features of Realme 5, but there is an upgrade on the rear primary camera sensor which is 48mp as compared to 12mp in the Realme 5. It comes in two storage variants: 64gb or 128gb of ROM both equipped with 4gb of RAM.

Realme X2 Pro Master Edition

The Realme X2 Pro Master Edition, launched in India in December 2019.

Realme X2 Pro Master Edition is created by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa and it comes in Red Brick and Concrete finishes. It comes only with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

The X2 Pro Master Edition shares the specs with the regular version which comes in Lunar White and Neptune Blue colours but flaunts a frosted glass back with a soft-touch finish.

Realme 5i

The realme 5i, released on January 2020 in India and the Philippines.

The realme 5i shares the same features of Realme 5, but the selfie camera is only 8MP. It comes in two colors: Aqua Blue and Forest Green, in a new sunrise design that resembles the ray of the sun and a matte finish. It has 3 variants of storage: 32,64, and 128 GB of flash memory. It only includes 3 GB of RAM.

Realme C3

The Realme C3 is an entry-level gaming smartphone released in February 2020 in India, and March 2020 in the Philippines.

Sharing the same form factor as the more expensive 5i, it features a 16.5 inch mini-drop fullscreen LCD display, 12MP main camera, 2MP macro camera, and 5MP selfie camera. It features video recording up to 1080p HD at 30fps and supports 120fps slow motion recording. It is one of the first smartphones with the MediaTek Helio G70 system-on-chip, and comes in two variants depending on the country—one with two back cameras and no fingerprint sensor which is sold primarily in India, and the international variant with three back cameras and a fingerprint reader. It also has a 5000mAh battery that supports reverse charging and 10W charging power.

The C3 also comes with a 3.5mm headset jack, a Micro-USB charging port, and dual Nano-SIM and Micro SD card tray. The phone runs on Android 10 with the Realme UI 1.0 interface on top.[45][46]

Reviews for the C3 have mostly been positive, with reviewers praising the phone's value proposition and specifications, though Fergus Halliday of PC World Australia was less than enthusiastic, mostly criticising its camera and onboard storage.[47]

Realme X50 Pro 5G

Realme X50 Pro is the first Realme smartphone with 5G connectivity.[48] Realme X50 Pro comes with 64MP Quad Camera & 32MP+8MP Dual Front Camera, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 90 Hz refresh rate Super AMOLED Display and in-display fingerprint scanner. It is the first phone in the world with NavIC - India’s satellite navigation system.[49]
