Ransom Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,420 at the 2010 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 18.0 square miles (46.5 km²), of which, 17.6 square miles (45.7 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (1.84%) is water.

At the 2010 census there were 1,420 people in 564 households, including 421 families, in the township. The population density was 80.7 people per square mile (31.2/km²). There were 599 housing units at an average density of 34/sq mi (13.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.3% White, 1.1% African American, 0.4% Asian, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.4%.[4]
There were 564 households, 26.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.7% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% were non-families. 22.7% of households were made up of individuals, and 9.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.91.
The age distribution was 19.4% under the age of 18, 63.7% from 18 to 64, and 16.9% 65 or older. The median age was 45.4 years.
The median household income was $52,448 and the median family income was $57,813. Males had a median income of $47,679 versus $28,150 for females. The per capita income for the township was $24,403. About 6% of families and 8.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.8% of those under age 18 and 6.4% of those age 65 or over.
