Rajarshi Memorial Higher Secondary School [1] is a senior secondary school situated in the village of Vadavucode, Kerala, India. The school was started by social worker Kadayath Pyli Abraham.

History

This School is the brainchild of the great philanthropist and social worker Late Mr. Kadayath Pyli Abraham. He started this school in 1938 with a vision to provide quality education to all section of the student community with a progressive educational approach to prepare them to face the challenges of the future and become useful citizens of country.

The school was given the name of Rama Varma XV (27 December 1852 – 1932) (Raja Rama Varma), also known as Rajarshi, of Cochin state.[2] He was enthroned as Maharaja on 23 October 1895 and abdicated in 1914. His son Rao Sahib I.N. Menon allowed starting an upper primary school at Vadavucode. He was the Director of Public Instructions of Cochin State. The initiator and the founder of Rajarshi Memorial Higher Secondary School was sri K P Abraham who was the first manager of the school. The ownership of the school was handed over to Catholicate and M D Schools corporate management by his son K A Paul in 1989. He was the first manager of the school and was succeeded by his younger brother Adv. K P Pathrose BA, BL, his daughter Elizabeth Abraham, daughter-in-law Alice Paul.

The first manager under the catholicate management was Joseph Mar Pachomios, who led the school till August 2002, and Paulose Mar Pachomios led the school till 2009, when he was succeeded by Mathews Mar Theodosius - Metropolitan of Idukki Diocese.

Rao Sahib I.N.Menon was responsible for upgrading the school as high school in 1945. Later in 2000, the school upgraded to Plus 2 level with science, commerce and humanities batches.

Location

The school is situated in a small village, called Vadavucode, 21 km from Kochi. Nearest villages are Pancode, Puthencruz.
