Queensland National Bank

The Queensland National Bank is a former bank in Queensland, Australia.

History

In 1872, the bank was established in Brisbane.[1]

In 1948, the bank was taken over by the National Bank of Australasia, now the National Australia Bank.[1]

Legacy

The bank constructed many substantial and ornate buildings as branches throughout Queensland. A number of extant buildings are heritage-listed, including:

The locality of Qunaba takes its name from the Qunaba sugar mill, being in turn coined from the bank's name (QUeensland NAtional BAnk).[11]

Queensland National Bank was inducted into the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame in 2011, for their significant contribution to Queensland's early economic development.[12]
