Peeran

Peeran is a village and union council (an administrative subdivision) of Mansehra District in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.[3] It is located in District Mansehra. It is in an area affected by the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.[4]

Peeran is the biggest union council of Mansehra both in population and area.

Historical Background

The name of village, Peeran, according to local sources, originated from word Peer (Urdu: پیر),which means Sufi saint. As having abundance of Sufi saints, this village gradually gained name as Peeran. The village earlymost inhabitant was Syed Shah Muhammad Sagheer, a Sufi saint whose shrine is in middle of village. All local syeds living in village are his descendants.

Demographics

Hindku is mainly spoken here by almost everyone. Along with Hindku, Urdu is also spoken here. Few people also can understand and speak pashtu and English.

Peeran is located in the Mansehra District. Its location coordinates are 34°19′48.8″N 73°18′14.1″E.

Maira Amjad Ali is in north of Peeran. City in the North of Peeran is Tehsil Balakot.

West of Peeran is Mansehra City specifically labarakot.

In the south, Peeran touches the Barhn (area of Abbottabad District).

East of Peeran are Garhi Habibullah and Muzaffarabad.

This is an important location, as it is surrounded by many cities. This is why the federal government is planning to make a highway through the area joining Muzaffarabad city to Mansehra City at Datta.
