Novice Gail Fawcett

Novice Gail Fawcett (March 29, 1909 – June 19, 1998), born in Gambier, Ohio, was the 8th President of Ohio State University. He received a Bachelor of Science from Kenyon College in 1931 and a Master's degree from Ohio State in 1937. He worked toward, but never completed a Ph.D. A teacher and coach, Fawcett was superintendent of Gambier Public Schools (1934–1938), Defiance Schools (1938–1943), Bexley Schools (1943–47), assistant superintendent in Akron City Schools (1947–1949), and superintendent of Columbus Public Schools in 1949. The Fawcett Center at Ohio State University and Fawcett Hall at Wright State University are named in his honor.
