Nasrat Gazi Mosque

Nasrat Gazi Mosque (Bengali: নসরত গাজীর মসজিদ, Arabic: مسجد نصرت‎ غازي‎) is an ancient mosque and archaeological site located in Barisal District of Bangladesh.[1] The mosque was built during the reign of Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah.[2] It is located in the village of Sialguni in Bakerganj Upazila.[3]

History

After the death of Alauddin Husain Shah, late medieval Sultan of Bengal and founder of Hussain Shahi dynasty, his eldest son Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah took the title of the throne. His reign lasted from 3 to 5 years. It is estimated that at this time one of his followers, named Nasrat Gazi, built the mosque in the village of Sialguni.[4] The mosque is now under the protection of the Department of Archaeology.[5]
