Overview

Mount Alvernia focus on "Educating young women through the Franciscan Tradition", and takes pride in all they do.

Beginning in 2015, Mount Alvernia College facilitated six different house groups for the Girls; Belle Praire, Greccio, Perugia, Rieti, Spoleto, and Villa Spada. Before 2015, the college only had four houses.

The college has seven buildings which house state of the art home economic rooms, science labs, textiles, music, sporting center and other facilities.

Over the course of its history, the college has struggled with academic results. Consistently ranking far lower in the Queensland state rankings than other Catholic Secondary Schoolgirls' Sports Association (CASSSA) member schools, Mount Alvernia College is widely considered to be 'academically unsuccessful.' This has been attributed to a lack of effort from students, including excessive co-curricular and unnecessary 'senior celebration' events replacing the expected classroom learning on a near-daily basis.
