M9 motorway (Pakistan)

The M-9 (Urdu: موٹروے 9) is a 136-km long 6-lane motorway connecting the cities of Hyderabad and Karachi in the Sindh province of Pakistan. It is a part of Pakistan's Motorways Network. M-9 is an upgrade of the existing Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway by adding an extra lane on each side, along with a complete re-surfacing of the road.

A groundbreaking ceremony of The M-9 Motorway was held on 11 March 2015 with planned a completion date of August 2017; however, a deadline for M-9 had slipped and the new inauguration was held in April 2018.

The motorway is being constructed by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and Think Transportation is appointed as the Traffic Consultant for the motorway. Construction begun in September 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2018. The motorway will be 136 km and will include 3 lanes on either side. The project will reduce the travelling time between Karachi and Hyderabad. The motorway on completion will consist of:

1- 136 km 6 Lane facility. 2- 275 km 2x Lane Service Road on either sides. 4- 8 Interchanges. 5- Karachi and Hyderabad Toll Plazas into 24 lane facilities. 6- Introduce Weigh Stations on new interchanges to check overloading 7- Construction of 2 Service Areas. 8- Construction of 2 Trauma Centers.
