List of international cricket five-wicket hauls at Bellerive Oval

Bellerive Oval is a sport ground in Bellerive on the eastern shore of the Australian city of Hobart in Tasmania. It primarily hosts cricket and Australian rules football. It is the home ground of Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes and has been used as a venue for international cricket since 1988, when it hosted a One Day International (ODI) between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The following year saw the first Test match held on the ground and the first women's ODI on the ground took place in 1991. Both the Australia men's and Australia women's sides first played Twenty20 Internationals at Bellerive in 2010.[1][2]

In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a notable achievement.[3] This article details the five-wicket hauls taken on the ground in official international Test and One Day International matches.

The first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match on the ground was Sri Lankan Rumesh Ratnayake, who took six wickets for 66 runs (6/66) in the first Test played on the ground. Australian Merv Hughes also took a five-wicket haul in the same match.[4] The best innings bowling figures in a Test were the 6/31 taken by Shane Warne in 1993 against New Zealand.[2][5]

The first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in an ODI was Ottis Gibson who took 5/42 for the West Indies against Sri Lanka in 1996,[6] one of only two five-wicket hauls taken in ODIs on the ground. As of February 2020 no five-wicket hauls have been taken in T20I matches or in any women's international match on the ground.
