List of awards and nominations received by Coldplay

Coldplay are a British alternative rock band formed in London by Chris Martin (lead vocals, guitars, piano), Jonny Buckland (guitar), Guy Berryman (bass guitar) and Will Champion (drums, percussion). They have released eight studio albums—Parachutes (2000), A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), X&Y (2005) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full of Dreams (2015), and Everyday Life (2019) —which have sold over 80 million copies.[1][2] The band has released over forty singles, including: "Yellow", which was the band's first hit in the United States where it reached number six on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart;[3] "Speed of Sound", which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart;[4] "Viva la Vida" which was the band's first number-one single in the UK and the US[5][6] and "Paradise" which in 2012 became Coldplay's second UK number 1, reaching the same spot on several other charts around Europe.

Note
  1. Certain award groups do not simply award one winner. They recognize several different recipients, have runners-up and have third place. Since this is a specific recognition and is different from losing an award, runner-up mentions are considered wins in this award tally. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination.

Coldplay has received 109 awards from 252 nominations. They received nine awards from 27 nominations from the Brit Awards—winning Best British Album three times and Best British Group four times. They have won 7 Grammy Awards from 29 nominations (or 34 including their solo recognitions). 2009 was their most successful year having received seven nominations at the 51st Grammy Awards—more than they had done previously—of which they won three. Coldplay has received thirteen MTV Awards, including six MTV Video Music Awards from twenty nominations, and seven MTV Europe Music Awards from twenty-six nominations. The music video for "The Scientist" won all the awards for which it was nominated at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. They have received three World Music Awards and six Billboard Music Awards. They have also received six Q Awards from twenty nominations and have won the Best Album award for three of their five albums.
