Leo Dottavio

Leandro Fabian Dottavio (born August 14, 1986) is an American reality television personality, Hollywood stuntman, and comedian. He performed in several well known American movies and TV shows, before going on to become a contestant on The Bachelorette’s 14th season in 2018.

Early life

Leo was born in Los Angeles, California to his mother Luz Dottavio, and father Julio Dottavio, along with his two sisters. Luz is Colombian and works in education. Julio Dottavio is of Argentinian and Italian descent and owns a construction business.[1]

Baseball career & education

As a youth, Leo played baseball for Grant High School in California.[2] His parents are die-hard baseball fans from New York, and their influence sparked a similar interest in Leo. Leo demonstrated an aptitude for baseball, and was recruited to play at California State University, Stanislaus. With passion for the sport and demonstrating athletic capability, he continued his athletic career, going on to playing semi-professionally with the Pasadena Redbirds.[3]

Acting & stuntwork

Leo began his career in Hollywood as a stuntman. He lent his athletic talents and interest in film to his work as a stuntman, performing stunts and smaller acting roles in shows such as SMILF, Love, 9-1-1, and others, including the action-oriented Universal Studios Hollywood show “WaterWorld.”[4] Leo also became known for playing Jimmie on the web series “Fight of the Living Dead” and has been featured on popular television shows like “American Horror Story,” “Black Jesus,” and “You’re the Worst.”[5] He has also had been in several regional and national commercials, including commercials for Harrah's Casinos and Bud Light.

Reality television

Leandro's reality television debut was in Season 14 of The Bachelorette, where he competed for the affection of Becca Kufrin. He was eliminated in Week 7. He gained attention for his role in Bachelor in Paradise the same year, where he played the villain for the show.[6]

Philanthropy

Leo has been seen finding ways to harness his well-known identity to help with philanthropy. He has worked with multiple philanthropic organizations, including raising money for cystic fibrosis through Colton Underwood's "Legacy Foundation," the MS Society (multiple sclerosis), and "Cycle for Survival," which fundraises for cancer research and education.[7]
