Keystone, Wisconsin

Keystone is a town in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 378 at the 2010 census.[3] The unincorporated community of Ino is located in the town.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93.4 km2), of which 35.8 square miles (92.7 km2) is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 km2), or 0.75%, is water.[3]

Demographics

At the 2000 census there were 369 people in 146 households, including 109 families, in the town. The population density was 10.3 people per square mile (4.0/km²). There were 186 housing units at an average density of 5.2 per square mile (2.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.93% White, 3.25% Native American, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81%.[2]

Of the 146 households 30.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 20.5% of households were one person and 9.6% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.91.

The age distribution was 23.0% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% 65 or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.3 males.

The median household income was $40,500 and the median family income was $41,625. Males had a median income of $33,333 versus $19,219 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,638. About 15.3% of families and 20.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 38.2% of those under age 18 and 7.5% of those age 65 or over.
