Karl Ravech

Karl Ravech (/ˈrævɪtʃ/; born January 19, 1965) is an American journalist who works as the primary Baseball Tonight host for ESPN.[1]

Early life and education

Ravech was born in Needham, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated from Needham High School. A graduate of Ithaca College in 1987, he has been affiliated with local stations WHTM in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and WBNG in Binghamton, New York.

He received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Ithaca College in 1987.[2] He also received a Master's Degree in Management and Leadership from Binghamton University in 1990.[3]

Career

ESPN

Ravech has worked for ESPN since 1993. He appears primarily on SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight. He has provided Play-By-Play commentary for the Little League World Series since 2003 and Major League Baseball as of 2013.

He also appears as the Baseball Tonight host in the 2K Sports video game, Major League Baseball 2K5.[4]

Personal life

Ravech resides in Avon, Connecticut, with his wife and two sons, Sam and Max.

Sam graduated from Pepperdine University in 2017. Sam was signed out of college by the San Francisco Giants-AA affiliate in Richmond as a TV/Radio Play-by-Play broadcaster. Sam also became the youngest Play-by-Play broadcaster on ESPN at the age of 22 after calling a Tulane Men’s Basketball game on November 22, 2017.[5]

Sam signed a contract with ESPN in 2018 to serve as a play-by-play broadcaster for college volleyball, basketball and baseball.

Ravech suffered a heart attack in November 1998.[6]
