History

The station was assigned the call letters KAGF on 1993-12-17. On 1994-09-30, the station changed its call sign to KTDO, on 2000-03-10 to KTDZ, then on 2001-12-17 to the current KCVR-FM.[2]

In March 2019, KCVR-FM changed their format from Spanish CHR to country, branded as "98.9 The Wolf".[3] Unfortunately, on July 2, 2019, staffers at KCVR, along with its Sacramento sister outlets, Rhythmic Top 40 KHHM and Country simulcast KNTY (licensed to Shingle Springs), informed listeners that they have been let go as all three stations will flip formats. On July 8, 2019, KNTY flipped to Regional Mexican as a simulcast with KRCX Marysville, California, while KCVR and KHHM remained jock less ahead of their impending format flips to be determined. The move is expected to end a short run for "98.9 The Wolf."[4]

On July 29, 2019 KCVR-FM changed their format from country to a simulcast of bilingual CHR-formatted KHHM 103.5 FM Sacramento.[5]
