History

The station was assigned the KAXW call letters on January 9, 1998. On February 12, 2002 the station changed its call sign to KTIQ.[1]

According to the latest Arbitron ratings as published in Radio and Records (see below), this was a sports radio station called "The Ticket" (indicated by the letters "TIQ"), until some time in late 2007/early 2008, when the station became a Spanish religious station as "Amistad Christiana".

On March 16, 2016, KBRE's old active/alternative rock format moved to KTIQ as "105.7 The Bear", adopting in its branding the use of its new translator K289CB Los Banos. The station changed its call sign to the current KBRE on May 11, 2016.

Acquisition by Stephens Media

On July 1, 2019, Mapleton Communications announced its intent to sell its remaining 37 stations to Stephens Media Group.[2] Stephens began operating the station that same day.
