Juicy (Doja Cat song)

"Juicy" is a song by American singer and rapper Doja Cat. It was originally released in a solo version on the deluxe edition of her album Amala, released in 2019. A remix with American rapper Tyga was released as the lead single off her sophomore album Hot Pink on August 15, 2019.[1] It debuted at number 83 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Doja Cat's first entry on the chart. Following the release of her album, the song later reentered the chart and peaked at number 41.[2] The music video was released the same day as the single.[3] The song debuted at number 88 on the Rolling Stone Top 100 with 28,000 US streaming equivalent units (4.2 million streams).[4]

Background

The song was originally released as a bonus track on the deluxe version of Doja's debut album, Amala, before being remixed as a single featuring Tyga, and serving as the lead single from her sophomore album Hot Pink. It was produced by Yeti Beats and Lukasz Gottwald, with the latter also co-writing the song under the pseudonym Tyson Trax.

Music video

The music video was released on the same day the single was released. It depicts Doja Cat dancing and twerking in multiple fruit-related scenes, whilst she wears custom fruit-inspired attire. The video has amassed more than 128 million views on YouTube as of June 4, 2020.[5]

Reception

D-Money of Soulbounce said that the video shows that Doja's "got the plumpest fruit of them all", stating that "you can't deny that the song is quite the jam."[6]
