Grand Duchess Natalya Alexeyevna of Russia (1714–1728)

Grand Duchess Natalya Alexeyevna of Russia (Russian: Наталья Алексеевна; 21 July 1714 – 22 November 1728) was a Russian Grand Duchess. She was the elder sister of Emperor Peter II of Russia, a maternal first cousin of Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa I, and Charles I, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. She was also a paternal first cousin of Peter III of Russia.

Life

She was the only daughter of Alexei Petrovich, Tsarevich of Russia and his wife, Charlotte Christine of Brunswick-Lüneburg, grandchild of Peter the Great and the sibling of Tsar Peter II. She was born in Saint Petersburg. After the death of her father, she and her brother were moved to the Russian court in 1719, where they were raised under the supervision of Anna Ivanovna Kramer.

Her brother became monarch in 1727. She was heir to the throne after Elizabeth and Anna. She became a center of attention, and Menshikov wished to have her marry his son. She was described as intelligent and kind and was considered as a good influence on her brother, who was close to her.

She died in Moscow, unmarried and without issue.
