Georg, Duke of Hohenberg
Georg, Duke of Hohenberg (25 April 1929 – 25 July 2019), was a grandson of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his morganatic wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg.[2] At the time of his death he was the senior agnate of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine.

Life
Prince Georg was born at Artstetten Castle in the community of Artstetten-Pöbring, Lower Austria, on 25 April 1929. He was the second son of Maximilian, Duke of Hohenberg and Countess Elisabeth von Waldburg zu Wolfegg und Waldsee.
Following the collapse of the monarchy, all Austrian titles were abolished by law in 1919. From then on, names consisted only of forename and surname, without von or titles, scilicet Georg Hohenberg.
He was born Prince Georg Friedrich Maximilian Jaroslav Petrus Canisius Markus Hubertus Maria Herzog von Hohenberg, but on 16 August 1977, upon the death of his elder brother, Franz, Duke of Hohenberg, Prince Georg became the 3rd Duke of Hohenberg and Head of the House of Hohenberg. Georg Hohenberg was a diplomat and was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to several countries, with his last appointment being to the Holy See during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II.
Duke George was a Bailiff Grand Cross of Justice of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
George Duke of Hohenberg died on 25 July 2019 at the age of 90.[3]
Family
Duke Georg married civilly on 4 July 1960 in Vienna and religiously on 8 September 1960 at Schloss Wald, Princess Eleonore of Auersperg-Breunner (born 12 September 1928 in Goldegg), daughter of Karl Alain, Prince of Auersperg-Breunner and Countess Marie Henriette of Meran. The couple have three children:
- Nikolaus, Duke of Hohenberg (born 3 July 1961 in Boulogne-sur-Seine) married civilly on 5 May 1989 in Meschede and religiously on 6 May 1989 in Fürstenberg, Countess Marie Elisabeth of Westphalen-Fürstenberg (born 7 August 1963 in Münster), daughter of Count Clemens of Westphalen-Fürstenberg and Countess Johanna of Galen. They have four children:
- Prince Karl of Hohenberg (born 24 June 1991 in Frankfurt)
- Princess Johanna of Hohenberg (born 13 June 1993 in Frankfurt) engaged (March 2020) to Count Vincenz of Waldstein, Herr of Wartenberg; the wedding is scheduled for 2 October 2021[4]
- Princess Theresa of Hohenberg (born 23 February 1996 in Frankfurt)
- Princess Sophie of Hohenberg (born 20 April 2000 in Blaricum)
- Princess Henriette of Hohenberg (born 9 November 1962 in Boulogne-sur-Seine)
- Prince Maximilian of Hohenberg (born 25 January 1970 in Buenos Aires) married on 9 September 2000 in Lucca, Emilia Oliva Cattaneo Vieti (born 29 July 1971 in Genoa), daughter of Cesare Oliva and Luisa Cattaneo Vieti. They have three children:
