Finn Delany

Finn Patrick King Delany (born 12 August 1995) is a New Zealand professional basketball player for the Wellington Saints of the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL). He plays in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL) for the New Zealand Breakers. Delany played college basketball for the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.

Professional career

In February 2019, Delany signed a contract with Serbian team FMP for the rest of the 2018–19 season.[1][2][3] In July 2019, he joined the Dallas Mavericks for the 2019 NBA Summer League.[4]

On 18 December 2019, he signed with the Wellington Saints for the 2020 New Zealand NBL season.[5] Following the conclusion of the 2019–20 Australian NBL season, Delany signed a two-year contract extension with the New Zealand Breakers.[6]

National team career

Delany was a member of the New Zealand national team that won 4th place at the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon. Over six tournament games, he averaged 12.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.[7] He was a Tall Blacks member who won the bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.[8]

In November 2017, 2018, and February 2019, Delany represented the Tall Blacks during the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers. Over nine qualifiers games, he averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.[9]
