Fier District

Fier District (Albanian: Rrethi i Fierit) was one of the thirty-six districts of Albania (which were dissolved in 2000) that is now part of Fier County. It had a population of 199,442[2] (2010 estimate), and an area of 785 km². It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital was Fier.

Fier is well known for its ancient city, known as "Apollonia", where Cicero, the famous Roman orator had studied for a small period of time.
