Malarvizhi (Pavithra) falls in love with Maran (Kumaran Thangarajan) and they decide to get married. On the day of their wedding, Maran dies in an accident and his younger brother Vetri (Dhiraviam Rajakumaran) is forced to marry Malarvizhi. The story then revolves around Vetri and Malar's marriage life.[4] After the marriage Malar refuses to live with Vetri and scolds him for everything. Vetri's love interest, Anjali starts troubling Vetri for cheating him. Malar and Vetri become friends after knowing that he hurted himself for stopping the wedding night ritual for her. Once Malar wants to write an exam in Chennai. Vetri convinces his mother and take her to the exam venue where someone steals her bag in which she has kept the hall ticket. Vetri buys a new one saying that hall ticket was lost in 'Gaja' storm. A girl sitting near Malar copies and puts the blame on Malar. Vetri comes and rescues her on time.

As their bag was stolen no money was left for Vetri and Malar. Malar draws portrait and Vetri writes poem and sells it. They got money and ate some food. Vetri asks Malar to draw him. But she refuses to draw his eyes because she cannot see his eyes. They live in a hotel there. They keep a party for couples. They ask some silly questions about their wife for which Vetri don't know the answer. Everybody makes fun of them and so Malar goes out in rage. Vetri explains the full story of their life to everyone in which everybody feel sorry for them. Malar hearing these things came to know that Maran has died because he had went in night to buy a ring for Malar. Vetri handover the ring to Malar. On the next day when both of them were standing on the beach her ring goes into the sea. Vetri jumps into the water in search of it and got himself drowned in the beach. Vetri was taken to the hospital in which he was saved. Malar feels happy for him. Later Vetri joins a mechanic shop for work. Since his boss is very friendly with Vetri his colleague Vallavan starts hating Vetri.

Vetri's friend Idhayakani, his uncle Thangarasu and his grandfather make him believe that he loves Malar. Vetri accept that after some consequences. On a parallel story line, Azhagar troubles Akila younger sister of Malar (Sai gayathri) to marry him, but is always disrespected by her in return. One day, he takes a video of her changing clothes and blackmails her incognito. This threat leaves Akila stranded in sorrow, and her father arranges her marriage with Azhagar, as he thinks he would accept her despite the video since he is his relative. Akila seeks Vetri's help to find the blackmailer and on the day of her wedding with Azhagar, Vetri exposes the truth and Azhagar got arrested. Vetri and his family convince Pugazh(Shyam), Vetri's younger brother into marrying Akila. Akila and Pugazh have a troubled marital relationship since he is constantly triggered against her by his mother, sisters and Azhagar.

Once when someone stole Malars 'thali', Vetri vows and find it in which he make the robbery inside the jail. Azhagar and the thief join hands to kill Vetri and revenge him in the jail. After these events Malar started to fall for him. On a parallel scale Anjali begins to talk with Vetri in a friendly manner and helps him which Vallavan captures photo. Malar finishes the rest of her drawing of Vetri in which she drew the remaining eyes. Both of them planned to confess their love on his birthday while Azhagar and his friends plans to make the birthday as death day but both of the plans doesn't come true.

When Akila and Pugazh goes to Akila's house to have a "virunthu" ( as there are newly married). To support them Verti and Malar comes with them. There Vetri gives Kammapandi 25 laks in which to close his money problem. When you come for "virunthu" you give many things to your newly marries daughter but as he has got some money issues he can't do that so Pughzh wears Vetri's jewels and goes back to there home but luckily Vetri's and Pughazh's mother doesn't find this. Vetri becomes a Farmer, Malar gets a teacher job through the exam she had written, her in-laws forbid her to go to work. Akila and Pugazh is the only one who is not doing any jobs. So through some insults and petty fights Akila somehow manages Pugazh to send him to work than being home. Somehow through Anjali they did find this all out, a big problem bursts out which leads both of the sisters to get kicked out of there house and both of the families in great desperation. Vetri starts to miss Malar more, whereas Pugazh too misses her badly cause he wants her to fight with him. Later Akila too started to feel something for him but is not ready to name it.

Before their anniversary, an exiting news knocks at Vetri's doorstep. He tells about it to Malar who got excited about this. They want Pugazh-Akila to accompany them to Yercaud for 5 days. Pugazh turns down the offer but eventually agreed for Vetri-Malar after getting some brains from Akila. The couples have fun time at tour. The couples take part in the competition "Mr. & Mrs. 2019" conducted in the resort. Vetri-Malar wins the title "Mr. & Mr. 2019" through many tough fights. On the last day i.e. Vetri-Malar's anniversary day Vetri arranges for a candle-light dinner to propose her. Malar too decides to express her feelings to Vetri on their Anniversary. But situation got turned badly when his mother calls him and taunts him about their wives and orders them to come home the next day. On the other side Pugazh and Akila tries to get to know each other, some goons attack Akila when she enters the haunted place, Pugazh attacks them and saves Akila. Rajadurai gives the money back to his daughter's in-laws by selling his ancestral house and makes his daughters live in their brides' house. Later, Malar comes to know the love life of Vetri through Anjali who plans to separate them by telling her some fake concepts she made with the help of Vallavan. Malar got furious and stops talking to Vetri thinking he betrayed her and is living for the sake of his promise to his Elder brother Maran. Anbukarasi and Vetri's sisters to make stories to add fuel to her burning makes her believe the story. Unable to stand her silence, Vetri decides to tell her love life by himself and narrates his story to her making her in a confused state on what or whom to believe. On the other side Akila starts liking Pugazh by series of events. Later, Aishwarya Malar's best friend is getting married and Aishwarya's father asks Malar to came to Chennai before the wedding starts and make her accept this marriage. Malar too agrees and decides to go alone. But Vetri accompanies her. Vetri is introduced as the Event organizer. Swetha, Malar's friend shows her love interest with Vetri by making Malar jealous.

The series revolves around two families. Pavithra who was formerly in Saravanan Meenatchi (season 3)[5] will be portraying female lead as a village girl while, Dhiraviam Rajakumaran plays the male lead and Kumaran Thangarajan plays the love interest of the female lead, Nivisha will be portraying love interest of the male lead but replaced by Anu Sulash. Later Thangarasu was replaced by V. Muthukumarasamy. Kalyana Veedu and Bommalattam serials fame. Official teaser has been released by Star Vijay in YouTube on 1 July 2018.[6] Other supporting cast include Shyam, Nisha, Gayatri Bhuvanesh and Venkat.

This title was taken from a 1991 feature film Eeramana Rojave starring Shiva and Mohini in the lead roles. The English meaning of this title is The wet rose.

The series has been remade in Telugu language as Manasichi Choodu broadcast from October 14, 2019 on Star Maa[7] and Kannada language as Jeeva Hoovagide broadcast on Star Suvarna from December 2019.[8]

The Series was released on 9 July 2018 on Vijay TV and Vijay TV HD. The Show was also broadcast internationally on Channel's international distribution.
