Bharathi Kannamma (2019 TV series)

Bharathi Kannamma (English: Bharathi and Kannamma) is a 2019 Tamil-language soap opera starring Arun Prasad, Roshini Haripriyan, Sweety and Akilan and directed by Praveen Bennett. The series premiered 25 February 2019 on Vijay TV.[1] Arun Prasad made his Tamil-language debut with this series.[2]

The show is the Tamil language remake of Malayalam television series, Karuthamuthu which is being aired on Asianet.

Synopsis

Kannamma (Roshni Haripriyan) , a girl of pure heart is looked down by her beautiful but arrogant step sister Anjali (Sweety) and step mother Bhagyalakshmi (Senthi Kumari) owing to her dark-complexion. Her only support in the house is her father Shanmugam, who praises her character and hates Bhagyam and Anjali for always belittling her. Soundarya is a business tycoon who is obsessed over beauty and fair-skin and dominant in nature. Her son Barathi (Arun Prasad) is a charming young doctor who follows his heart. Anjali wins the Miss Chennai pageant and Soundarya develops an instant liking for her beauty and fixes her second son Akilan's (Akilan) wedding with her. Akilan falls for Anjali while she maintains an immense crush on Barathi. How Barathi and Kannamma overcome the day-to-day tussles in the form of Anjali's crafty plans form the rest of the story.

Casting

Roshni Haripriyan was a model who [3] will be portraying female lead as dark skinned girl, Arun Prasad was a short film actor plays the male lead. Sweety, a model, was cast to play lead female role of (Miss Chennai). Akilan, who is model and a short film actor, was cast to play another male lead. Official teaser has been released by Star Vijay in Youtube on 10 February 2019.[4] Other supporting cast include Roopa Sree, Rishi, Sruthi Shanmuga Priya, Venkat, Rajkumar Manoharan and Senthikumari .

Title

This title was taken from a 1997 feature film Bharathi Kannamma starring R. Parthiepan and Meena.
